43 Kyu Problems¶
The black stones are completely surrounded. Though there are 3 internal spaces, it only forms one eye.
Find the move that partitions the single eye into two eyes.
If you don't play the right move, white will play it.
Your vital point is your opponent's vital point.
Where is the best place to partition two eyes?
As you can see with these two problems, if the space you surround is small, making life will be hard. You should strive to make space large enough to easily find two eyes.
Consider the following figure.
If white plays one of the marked moves, black can still play the other to successfully partition the space into two eyes.
Since black can make two eyes, we can consider black to be alive here, too.
Keep in mind, however, that if white manages to play both marked moves, black can be captured.
